Located on the banks of the beautiful Seneca River, Spa on the River, Inc. is the only true Spa in Baldwinsville. At the spa you can receive a myriad of services in one place, surrounded with the atmosphere of fountains and the old world elegance of Rome.

Our History

 

Judith A. Santimaw started her business after losing her job at Owens-Brockway Glass Container Division in Volney, New York. She was forced to return to school and chose the Nail Industry. She enrolled in a Nail Specialty course through encouragement from her sister Kathleen. She graduated on November 3rd. 1995.

Judy opened her business alone in March 1996. Given a $1,100 loan from her mom, Norma. She rented a tiny 600 sq. ft. space in Tri County Mall. Her husband Richard utilized the loan money to fix up the space which was formerly "Barnes Memorial" tombstone store. She wanted to do nails only, so she named her business Exclusively Nails Inc. In no time at all her dedication to detail and exemplary customer service, oriented mind set made her business flourish. She was completely booked and needed to hire help. Within one and a half years she had outgrown the tiny space an looked to get out of the hidden mall.

On November 3, 2000 she closed on the new property which Spa on the River enjoys. It was formerly the Baldwinsville Animal Hospital. With an incredible amount of hard work which she received from her husband Richard and family. Her brother Donald rushed up from Washington D.C. and her brother John from Albany, NY came to help with the enormous job of gutting the building. Judy also received layout plans and ideas enlisted through Syracuse Barber & Beauty from Jerry and Chuck Kinsella. The layout was many times changed to cater to the Spa Professional team to ensure ease when performing Spa Services on clients- must be smooth.

After about one and a half years of renovations she opened the doors of Spa on the River, Inc. (Again she chose, a simple and to the point name to describe her business.) The last days at her old location were tough/crowded and Judy was very anxious to offer to the great residents of Baldwinsville a gorgeous one-stop location to get all their services. One of her clients complained to her at the mall location that she "had to drive all the way to B'ville for Judy to do my nails then to Syracuse for my hair then to Cicero for massage!" Now she is thrilled she only comes to B'ville, a quiet no-stress location to view Seneca River and totally relax. A far cry from the busy intersections of confusion where she previously ventured.

Without our team, we are nothing! Santimaw has been busy putting together a wonderful, talented, select team of Spa Professionals worthy of serving our loyal clients who have supported Judy throughout the years. She is very dedicated to every detail from the interior design to the offering of services in her Spa Menu. Until Spa on the River, Inc. is completed to her satisfaction then will she have her Grand Opening. So keep watching us!
